Job Description


The PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters) Supervisor is a Registered Nurse (RN) who assists the PICC manager and helps coordinates the PICC Service Team. This position is responsible for the coordination and provision of care for the patient (Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal) while performing and monitoring the clinical insertion of a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC), Midline Catheters, Peripheral IV Catheters and other venous access devices inserted with and without the use of ultrasound guidance.

Responsibilities also include planning; co-coordinating the business of the Vascular Access Service at all assigned facilities, co-coordinating and training of staff for optimum performance and maintaining systems and staff procedure skill-set for operating efficiencies and patient safety. Local travel in the Division will be required with occasional travel to other markets as needed.


This position requires the following minimal requirements:

•        Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) or Vascular Access-Board Certified (VA-BC), required

•         BLS, ACLS required and PALS credentials required within 60 days

•         Active Registered Nursing Licensure required

•         Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and State RN Licensure required

•         Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited school preferred

•         Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience required; 1-3 years of Mgmt./Supervisor experience required

•         Minimum 3 years of  Critical Care experience required

•         Prefer at least 3 years of IV Therapy, PICC Placement and Oncology experience required

•         Excellent oral and written communication skills

•         Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities

•         Ability to work well within a team environment and work alone/independently

•         Manage stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure

•         Work in confined and/or crowded areas

•         Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
