Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES –The Onboarding Team Lead will oversee the team of Onboarding Specialists who provide onboarding support by assisting recruiters and travelers with the onboarding process. Responsibilities to include, but not limited to: consistent assessment of credentialing requirements for general and hospital specific. To serve as the liaison between HWS travel recruitment and HWS operating departments.  This position will be responsible for continuously reviewing work flows and implementing process improvements.  Will ensure all HWS/HR programs, policies and procedures are followed and administered in accordance with federal and state regulations, as well as internal company policy. 

SUPERVISES – Onboarding Specialists 


  • Leads a team of Onboarding Specialists to ensure that HWS employees meet pre-placement requirements.
  • Review and obtain credentialing requirements for new customers.
  • Serve as a resource to Credentialing Specialists and Travelers to ensure timely documents
  • Review reports and monitor weekly starts
  • Respond to daily recruiter, credentialing and traveler questions, concerns, and issues
  • Create and implement standardized processes and procedures
  • Handle escalated Traveler issues
  • Hold regular meetings (minimum weekly) with team members
  • Maintain notes in workforce used for maintaining employee onboarding history
  • Ensure all payroll documents are received and uploaded.
  • Ensure the communication and implementation of new or updated credentialing / HR policies and procedures
  • Responsible for Timekeeping approvals, edits and corrections, payroll adjustments
  • Provide coverage for Onboarding Specialists as needed
  • Ensure company systems are utilized appropriately by team.
  • Participate in HR audits as required

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES – This position requires the following minimal requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage stress appropriately and make decisions under pressure
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office products
  • Ability to learn new software programs


EDUCATION – High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Required; Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field preferred

EXPERIENCE – 1-3 years onboarding credentialing experience, related healthcare experience preferred, staffing healthcare experience preferred, and supervisory experience preferred



  • Exert up to 20 lbs force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs frequently
  • Requires prolonged sitting and some bending, stooping, and stretching
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Requires the perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound
  • Requires normal range of eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
  • Requires dexterity to type.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and involves frequent contact with staff and the public.
